Where should I place a Sound Grabber at a wedding so the sound is not boomy?
I just bought a Sound Grabber II to use for wedding videos. The microphone's sound was somewhat "boomy" when the mic was on the floor 2 feet from me. Any suggestions?
Reply: Like any microphone, the Sound Grabber gets less boomy (picks up less room reverb) as it is placed closer to the sound source. A typical mic placement for a wedding is on the floor between the worship leader and the marital couple. Do a trial recording of your own voice with the mic in that position. If it sounds too reverberant, use a lavalier mic (like a GLM-100) on the worship leader.
